“You have two lives, and the second begins when you realize you only have one.”
Tell us about yourself along with a fun fact!
I’m a senior studying Computer Science in the College of Engineering at NC State University and I’ll be finishing my degree abroad in the UK! I love to travel.
What # would define your life journey?
Favorite website / app:
Google Calendar! I would not survive without it.
Github is a life saver when developing.
Someone who inspires you and knowledge they have imparted:
My peers at university inspire me, Lauren Brennan and Dana Christo. They both have encouraged me and helped me in amazing ways. These women have expanded my view of what is possible for students our age to accomplish. They go above and beyond with their passions, and just being around them when they’re excited about something is inspiring.
What’s your favorite way to destress?
Taking a bath or shower, then relaxing on a couch or bed with good food while watching a movie.
Challenge you’ve faced and how you overcame it:
I never thought I would become a programmer. It absolutely was not in my field of view when I was in high school, but at the end of my junior year a teacher asked me if I would take AP Computer Science for my senior year because they needed more girls in the class for a grant. I decided to try it out, really not thinking much of it, but I’m so glad that I took that random opportunity that presented itself to me. Turns out the chance I took on a random course became the rest of my life thus far.
I would love to be someone who facilitates a positive work environment and helps fellow employees connect the dots on how to accomplish common goals. I enjoy leadership and mentoring positions, so my ideal job would be one in which I can help others achieve their goals. (Preferably in a cybersecurity position).
What knowledge would you impart to women in order for them to REIGN their lives?
Remember to take time for yourself. Figure out what is most important to you and prioritize those things.
