“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.” ― Stephen King
Tell us about yourself along with a fun fact!
I’m one of the founders of a startup called Croissant. Our app gives remote workers seamless access to amazing coworking spaces around the world. We initially started the company because we had trouble finding a place to meet and collaborate in New York City. Coffee shops just weren’t cutting it, so we decided to create our own solution and we launched a little over two years ago. I love being able to help people be more productive and inspired throughout their daily lives.
I mainly focus on our product and marketing. My background is in marketing, and I have slowly picked up skills in branding, design, and UX while working on Croissant.
A few of my other interests include hanging out in cozy cafes, practicing yoga, and learning more about blockchain.
Fun fact: I just spent the last six months traveling around Europe while I work remotely on my startup. I am writing this from Lisbon, Portugal!
Favorite website / app:
Audible is one of my favorites. I was quite hesitant to try it out at first because I love the experience of buying, holding, and reading books, but I have come to really enjoy audiobooks. The app is so convenient for commuting and walking around the city.
Someone who inspires you and knowledge they have imparted:
My mom is a huge inspiration to me. She immigrated to the USA from Thailand in her early 20s with my father. Both my parents have worked incredibly hard to create a comfortable life in California.
My mom has a zen approach to life. She reminds me that there are things I can control and things I cannot control, and that I should react accordingly. She is also cheerful and positive. She has always been supportive of everything that I do — when we made a promo video for Croissant, she shared the Youtube link with all her friends and told them to like the video! My mom taught me that I am capable of whatever I put my mind to. Her encouragement and understanding has helped me inspire me like no other.
Challenge you’ve faced and how you overcame it:
One of my biggest challenges is becoming more confident in myself. I sometimes feel like I’m not a “real entrepreneur” and I second guess my thoughts and feelings. Or I feel like I need permission to do certain things.
It’s tough to rewire my brain, but I’m finally learning to be more confident in my own authentic way.
I feel like I have the ideal job right now! I am grateful for the opportunity to wake up every day and have the freedom to work on whatever creative projects I want to. Also, it’s a wonderful thing to know that our app is helping other people achieve their dreams.
