Someone who inspires you and knowledge they have imparted:
My mother. She was a working mom in India in the 90s which was unheard of! She showed me the power of hard work and self confidence. She taught me I can achieve anything and I should always speak up against what’s wrong. These lessons have shaped my personal life and my career in amazing ways! She’s also a big advocate for women’s education and financial independence. If it wasn’t for her lessons I would not my brave self!
What’s your passion project?
I have a podcast called “Her STEM Story” where I interview Real Women with extraordinary STEM stories. The show has taught me so much about creativity, feminism and strength. I hope more people can listen and learn from these powerful stories. So far I have 22 stories and a new episode comes out every Tuesday. It’s available on all podcasting platforms including iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and on our website.
Challenge you’ve faced and how you overcame it:
My struggle with mental health and depression was a very important part of my journey. It impacted and shaped my life in many positive ways like discovering meditation.I was in a pretty difficult time in my early adulthood and use to self-harm. My curiosity helped me get out of that phase. As I started working on more challenging problems for my engineering projects, I found myself finding more mental peace. It took at least 10 years to recover but it’s a journey that completed changed how I handle challenges and how I live my life.
To be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company and to be able to share my story with more women and girls!
